In the last 30 years, there has been more gold produced in
Northern Nevada than in all of the other great historical gold rushs of the U.S. combined.

Located in the heart of that gold mining region The MineShaft Bar got its name because of its location, because of its patrons, who mostly work in the mining industry, and because the owner,
Mike Leavitt, was a miner and grew up in a gold mine man-camp.

If you're not a miner, on this page you'll find links to sites about mining, historical and modern. If you "already know all that shit" you can find links to major mining companys websites and perhaps their personnel department.

Here's a link to Al Mosch's Phoenix Mine website. Al is a hard rock gold miner in Idaho Springs, Colorado (my home town) who has a mine located on a scenic mountain dirt road. He had a picture perfect, well designed operation with a small concentrator mill on site. So many tourists were stopping to ask questions and look around that Al was spending more time explaining things than mining! Rather than running those curious folks off, he saw that there was an opportunity to educate them and make a living at it too! The Phoenix Gold Mine Tour was born. Visit the Phoenix Mine if you are in central Colorado and tell Al that I sent you.
